Prof. Raouf Boutaba (School of Computer Science, University of Waterlooo, Canada

Title: Managing the Internet the Telco's Way!

Raouf Boutaba is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Science of the University of Waterloo. Before that he was with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Toronto. Before joining academia, he built and led the telecommunications and distributed systems division of the Computer Science Research Institute of Montreal (CRIM). Dr. Boutaba conducts research in the areas of network and distributed systems management and wired/wireless networks control and engineering. He has published more than a hundred papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings. He is the recipient of the Premier's Research Excellence Award in 2000.

 

Dr. Martin Creaner (Chief Technology Officer, TeleManagement Forum, U.S.A.)

Title: Surviving in Today¡¯s OSS industry

Martin Creaner has been working and advising in the Communications Industry for over 16 years and is presently Vice President and CTO of the TMF. Prior to joining the TMF, Martin held a number of executive positions with BT, the major UK based European Communications Service Provider, and with Motorola, the global Wireless Networks Equipment manufacturer, where Martin led the 2.5G and 3G OSS solutions development activities. Martin is also the Managing Director of SEB Consulting Limited, a Management and Technical Consultancy specializing in advising clients in the Telecommunication Sector. In recent years Martin has been instrumental in forming several global strategic alliances between a number of the leading players in the mobile communications sector.

 

Dr. Toshitaka Tsuda (General Manager, Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd., Japan)

Title:   Towards the Ubiquitous Network

 

Toshitaka Tsuda was born in 1947. He received BS, MS, and PhD. degrees from the University of Tokyo in 1970, 1972, in 1975, respectively. In 1975, he joined Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd., where he engaged in R&D in the field of digital signal processing, LSIs for communication, optical communication systems, and data network. From 1978 to 1979, he was at the University of California, Berkeley. Currently, he is a Member of the Board and General Manager of Network Systems Laboratories, Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd.. He is a Senior member of IEEE and Fellow of IEICE.

 

Dr. Jae-Woo Yang (Vice President, Network Technology Lab., ETRI, Korea)

Title: Next Generation Access Networks

Jae-Woo Yang is a Vice President of Network Technology Lab., ETRI. His current projects include Development of Next Generation Optical Subscriber Network, and Optical Internet Development. He has actively involved in the international standardization activity as a board member of DAVIC (Digital Audio Visual Council). He also works as the Chairman of C-STAR (Consortium of Speech Translation Advanced Research). Dr. Yang has received his B.S. degree from Seoul National University and his Ph.D. degree from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.
