"Management of Convergence Networks and Services"

You are cordially invited to join us at APNOMS 2006 at Paradise Hotel, Busan, Korea. This is the 9th in the series, following the successful APNOMS¡¯97 (Seoul), APNOMS¡¯98 (Sendai), APNOMS¡¯99 (Kyongju), APNOMS 2000 (Nara), APNOMS 2001 (Sydney), APNOMS 2002 (Jeju), APNOMS 2003 (Fukuoka), and APNOMS 2005 (Okinawa). APNOMS 2006 is building on the success of previous APNOMS, the premier technical symposium in the area of network/service operations and management in the Asia-Pacific region, jointly sponsored by KICS KNOM and IEICE TM, and supported by IEEE CNOM, IEEE APB, TMF, and IFIP WG 6.6.

Over the past 10 years, we have witnessed the convergence of telecommunication networks and data networks, most notably the Internet. We have also witnessed the convergence of wired and wireless networks. We are experiencing a variety of services such as voice, data, video, audio, and broadcasting on converged networks. Efficient and secure operations and management of these converged networks and services is one of the most important tasks to service providers in order to effectively manage their resources, to satisfy their customers, and to be financially successful. The Organizing Committee has timely selected ¡°Management of Convergence Networks

and Services¡± as the theme of APNOMS 2006 and has prepared an excellent 3-full day program with keynotes, tutorials, special sessions, panels, technical sessions, poster sessions, and exhibitions with the theme in mind. This year we have received the record number of technical paper submissions (over 300) and we are certain that the selected 50 papers will be of high-quality on the latest hot topics in network/service operations and management.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the participants to APNOMS 2006. The APNOMS 2006 venue, Paradise Hotel, is located in the Haeundae area of Busan with the most popular beach in Korea and lots of fine restaurants and interesting things to do and see. I sincerely hope that all of you will help make this symposium the most productive and useful, and have lots of fruitful discussions with other participants.

Finally, I would like to sincerely thank all contributors to this symposium, without whom this symposium would not have been possible. I would also like to thank all committee members, who put their endless time and effort in preparing for the success of this symposium.
